A Hard Day's Night

So the last post is a few days old...this one is fro, yesterday. Meaning I wrote it yesterday but was just now able to post it bc the cber cafe is actually working...yay. Also you'll have to bear with me on errors because i'm using a fun french keyboard..ohhh Senegal. Anywas this is what i wrote last night enjoy..it's a long one.
I was excited to write a nicez blog on my computer bc I finall got it working (or so i thought) and now i'm just grumpy. I had a great blog all thought out and now all i can rthink about is drop kicking my computer. Anywas i'll try to get on with my life and this post.
I've gotten into somùewhat of a routine here (at m homestay) and feel somewhat productive, finally. Here is my day..
7:30 Wake up and shower (ie bucket bath), have breakfast ie. coffee, 1 sugar cube and the occasional 5 inches of french baguette. <<<<<<9:00 i have class at my house with a teacher and 3 pther volunteers. This is mainly just discussion and some vocab so we can get bztter a speaking.
12ish class ends and the little kids come back from the koranic school. this is what they have since it,s technically summer break (think bible school)I either run an errand, but not usually because its really hot in the afternoon, or homework. Then I eat zith the kids... the adults are fasting bc of Ramadan. Then i either do more homework, read; take a nap and usually shower right before class at 4pm 5or for us seize heure)
4 pm class at chris's house then i either go into town with my group. we usually go to the cber cafe or the market but really its just an excuse to get out, walk around and make us feel like we do have some freedom. In that regard I have a decent amount of freedom but our families reat us like little kids (rightfully so) which has been a bit hard to adjust to. Dad you xwould crap yourself is you saw the way i listen to my father here :) Here is an example...i get told where to sit all the time even if where i am is fine, they undoubtedly know a better spot and yesterday I was appparentl incapable of cutting my own food. my mom took the chicken straight from me and tore it apart like i was 2. they have the best intentions so really it is just very sweet, but soetimes i feel a little defeated because i think i've found something i'm capable of doing and NO....here comes a mom or a brother or even a neighbor... i hope you all are ready to do everything for me when i get back. I'm going to forget how to do everything.
at 7:30 we cut fast, ie more sugar water (or what they call coffee) and 6 in of bread. then it is tv time, which is when i sit around and do homework or talk with a brother.
8 or9ish is dinner..I'll talk about that in another post. the i usually try to sneak away to my room for homework and alone time. I do do my homework or other french exercises i've made up. I then finishes the night with some country music and journaling, or maybe listen to my slowly dwindeling library of NPR podcasts. This is my american time.
midnight i go to bed and try to all asleep while i sweat perfusely in the heat. the rest of the family is easily up till 1 or 2 and making loads of noise..thank god for my ipod.
So that is life here, at least for now. It is not too bad, i am adjusting and taking pleasure in the sile things like mangos...mmmmmm. When i am back at thies in a weekish i will try to post my training calender so you guys can actually see my schedule for the next month or so.
